Here is his endorsement, thank you for the kind words Andy!
“With reduced revenues to government agencies, it is very important to have strong leaders who are willing to think outside the box to reduce expenses. Such leaders act in the public’s best interest even though they put themselves in a position to be criticized, when in fact they should be commended for making these difficult decisions. Mitch Needleman is just such a leader who has effectively trimmed the clerks office budget while enhancing the quality of customer service.”

Needelman exemplifies what we look for in a public trustee. He is neat, clean, well-dressed and well-behaved. He presents facts, backed up by more facts. He speaks well and exudes confidence in himself and what he is saying.

He does not let Ellis rattle him with his personal insults and other outlandish comments. Needelman ignores the drama and sticks to the topics.

In contrast, Ellis is unkempt, clearly unprepared and spews the same information over and over again, the gist of which seems to be he is running simply because he hates Needelman. Not much of a platform there.

Mr. Needelman, I applaud your ability to be in the same room with this man. He clearly insults you and the audience with his appearance and behavior. It is a tribute to your experience in the political arena that you can tolerate this.

The Florida Taxpayers Union, Florida’s largest taxpayer organization, has nominated some of Florida’s top policy makers for the organization’s most prestigious award, the FLORIDA TAXCUTTER AWARD. Among the nominees is Brevard County’s own, Mitch Needelman, whose controversial cost saving programs has put the Brevard Clerk’s office in the forefront of the 2012 elections.

The organization announced last week that taxpayers and organizations from around Florida sent in hundreds of nominations. Nominations were solicited through the organizations 140,000 opt-in email list; news releases and announcements to various other tax organizations; tea party groups; 912 groups; Republican Liberty Caucus and others.

“It is an honor to be nominated, and a humbling reminder that our ultimate responsibility is to the taxpayers,” said Needelman. “Putting in long hours beside others in government and surrounded by politics, it is easy to get caught up, but to see that such a true grassroots collection of Floridians has taken note of what we’ve done is a stark reminder of why we serve, and what should always be our motivation.”

In a press release last week, the Florida Taxpayers Union announced its finalists for the prestigious award include: Governor Rick Scott (R-Florida); Senator Marco Rubio (R-Miami); The Honorable Randy Johnson (R-Sebring); Ax the Tax Chairman Doug Guetzloe; State Senator Greg Evers (R-Baker); Brevard County Clerk of Courts Mitch Needleman (R-Viera); Osceola County Clerk of the Courts Malcolm Thompson (D-St. Cloud); Mayor Carlos Gimenez (R-Miami/Dade); The Honorable Tony Ferentinos (R-Kissimmee); The Honorable Mark Cross (R-Kissimmee).

Needelman said he was surprised to find himself recognized among the distinguished group of well-known officials.

“It is inspiring to be counted among such a dedicated grouping of public servants as Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Rick Scott and so many others,” said Needelman, “… and to know that such a prestigious group, by its grassroots membership has recognized what we have done in Brevard as an important step in better serving the taxpayers, well, it reinvigorates us all.”

According to the press release, The FTU Board will now review the nominees and make a determination of the designee by May 15, 2012. FTU is the Florida affiliate of the National Taxpayers Union (NTU), America’s oldest taxpayer organization based in Washington, DC.

The clerk must be someone who will not quit when the options look bleak or use the office as a personal stomping ground due to a personal vendetta.

Former clerk Scott Ellis has stated publicly his reason for running for the office again is because Mitch Needelman is the current clerk.

Brevard County taxpayers deserve better than someone who is willing to play with employees as pawns in his world of fantasy. How disrespectful it is for Brevard taxpayers that Ellis would think to waste their money on his fantasy game while gambling with the stakes — the lives of employees and their families.

Needelman has proven he can run the office while cutting costs and retaining employees. Performance measures reported to the state show he is consistently exceeding the standards set by the state.

Grow up, Scott Ellis, and quit being such a bitter quitter.
